From the confiscation of books by authors supporting Ukraine till the death penalty. Falsification of the referendum and shelling of Donetsk by Russian special services.

You are watching the news from the weekly protest in front of the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. Today is December 23, 14:30.

On December 18, Rosfinmonitoring added the writer Boris Akunin to the list of terrorists and extremists.

On December 14, during propagandist Vladimir Solovyov's show, United Russia party deputy Andrey Gurulev called Akunin an "enemy" who needs to be "destroyed". And on December 11, Gurulev suggested bringing back the death penalty to fight "internal enemies".

Writer Dmitry Bykov, whose books were suspended along with Akunin's, said on the "Breakfast Show" that this was revenge for their support of Ukraine. According to him, director-turned-propagandist Nikita Mikhalkov profited from Akunin's book film adaptations. Now these books are seizing from publishers under the guise of extremist literature.

This recalls how in 1933 in Germany, books were burned. The burnings were organized and executed by student and youth organizations. The underlying thesis stated that the enemy was the Jew. Tens of thousands of books by persecuted authors were burned by students, professors, and local Nazi party leaders.

On December 18, Vladimir Osechkin published an interview with former GRU Major Igor Salikov, who had been involved in operations in Ukraine since the war began in 2014. He described how the results of the so-called Donetsk referendum were falsified and how separatists shelled Donetsk themselves, later blaming the Ukrainian army. He also mentioned that tasks were assigned by Vladislav Surkov, an assistant to the Russian president.

Yuriy Belousov, head of the Department for Investigating War Crimes at the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, stated on Radio Svoboda that Salikov provided "important testimonies, some of which have already been confirmed, related to the invasion of February 24, 2022."

On "Feigin Live" on December 20, Chekist Day, Osechkin called on FSB agents to arrest Putin and his junta, and restore democracy and people's power.

Finally, we would like to talk about the political union "Civic Council". Their program includes ending the war in Ukraine, withdrawing troops to 1991 borders, handing over those involved in war crimes to a tribunal, and organizing compensation payments to Ukraine. A key part of their program is rebuilding the country based on self-governance, including freeing Russians from federal oppression. They plan to release political prisoners, conduct lustration, and with international observers, secure nuclear weapons. To make this possible, they are forming the Siberian Battalion as part of the international legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
