On May 30, Kirill Martynov, editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta Europe, posed questions from Russians to Heidi Hautala, Vice-President of the European Parliament, and Sinikukka Saari, Director of Research at the Finnish Institute of International Relations. Hautala explained that Finland closed its border with Russia due to a refugee influx orchestrated by Russian authorities in November 2023. Saari suggested that the attack aimed to "create the image of an evil West" and noted, "more and more Finns think this is not just Putin's war, but Russia's war, and Russians should protest more."
