Soon in Serbia there will be an appeal by the case of Belarusian activist Andrey Gnyot. Andrey is a co-founder of SOS-BY - an association of athletes who oppose the repressions of Alexander Lukashenko, for which it was called "extremist". Lukashenko lost the elections, but remained in power with the help of security forces. Andrey was convicted in Belarus retroactively under the new law and they are demanding his extradition to Belarus. We consider this case political and ask Serbia not to extradite Andrey to certain death in a Belarusian torture prison.
We have coordinated our forces to put an end to repression in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. Russians are also participating in the organization of this international action, because repression in Belarus has reached the level where relatives who remain in Belarus are being tried for activists' activities abroad. We also consider this a common cause, because similar situations happen to Russian activists. For example, Russian activist Vladislav Arinichev is currently in a deportation prison in Croatia, he was considered a threat to national security based on his inclusion in the Russian list of "extremists" and "terrorists" for his anti-war statements.
The situation is very bad: in Serbia, the agreement with Belarus takes precedence over international law.
