You are watching the news from the weekly rally at the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. Today is November 16, 2:30 PM.
Two weeks after last year’s Web Summit, the European Commission declared Lisbon the European Capital of Innovation for 2024.

We join Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas in congratulating those who gathered at the Web Summit this week. We also echo his call for those who have achieved success to give back to society and help improve lives.

On November 12, politician Yulia Navalnaya spoke at the Web Summit. She emphasized the responsibility of tech companies to participate in the fight for democracy and access to truthful information rather than solely pursuing profits. She highlighted Apple’s removal of hundreds of VPN apps in Russia as an example—a topic we have discussed in previous videos. Alongside Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López, she called for opposition movements from countries with authoritarian regimes to unite against collaborating dictatorships.

That same day, Navalnaya attended the opening of a memorial for Alexei Navalny, which was installed at a legally approved distance from the Russian Embassy. We hope Alexei’s memory inspires Russians to fight for freedom from Putinism and to work toward a peaceful, forward-thinking future for their country.

For more details on why this memorial is significant and how Putinism endangers the world, read my article in Sapo 24.

Last weekend, Berlin hosted the fourth conference of the Anti-War Committee, with our representative in attendance.

The conference resolution called for transparency about the sponsors of anti-war organizations, stressed the importance of aiding victims of the war in Ukraine, and cautioned against letting the fight against propaganda devolve into propaganda itself.

Regarding transparency in our own funding, we receive no grants for our work, which we do in our free time and at our own expense. Donations go toward specific projects, and none of our labor is paid. To counter Putin’s propaganda, we share truthful information and provide verified sources. We also extend our gratitude to our 4,000 supporters in Portugal and Russia for valuing our work.

Together with activists in other countries, we continue raising funds for portable power stations requested by hospitals and schools in Ukraine. With sub-zero temperatures already gripping the country, we urgently need to meet the €100,000 goal.

Please also support the Emile Foundation (formerly the Orphans Feeding Foundation), which is dedicated to returning Ukrainian children abducted by Russian authorities.
