The same day, a joint investigation by The Insider and Investigace.cz revealed that nine companies from the Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland are continuing to supply industrial equipment to Russia through affiliated Russian firms. Previous reports from The Insider highlighted similar practices by German, South Korean, and Italian manufacturers.

On January 21, the human rights project OVD-Info reported by citing RTVI sources, that a 15-year-old schoolboy is being prosecuted for non-denunciation. Investigators claim the teenager’s peer informed him via Telegram about plans to set fire to a United Russia office in Dolgoprudny, Moscow Region.

On January 17, Mediazona reported that three of Alexei Navalny’s lawyers were sentenced to up to five-and-a-half years in prison for alleged participation in the so-called "extremist" FBK community. Additionally, the lawyers will be barred from practicing law for three years after serving their sentences.

On January 19, Dovod, a media outlet from Russia’s Vladimir region, reported that U.S. authorities denied asylum to and deported Yevgeny Mashinin back to Russia. In 2023, the European Court of Human Rights had awarded Mashinin 5,000 euros for repeated detentions, fines, and arrests in Russia due to his participation in Navalny’s rallies. Mashinin revealed that Judge Kevin Terrill, who presided over his asylum case, remarked to another asylum seeker with a criminal case in Russia: “You will be imprisoned, but not killed”. Upon his return to Russia, Mashinin was charged with defamation and minor hooliganism. Thankfully, he managed to escape to Morocco.

Internet outages continue to plague Russia. On January 14, Deutsche Welle reported widespread disruptions affecting all major Russian mobile and landline internet providers. The outages temporarily disabled access to video hosting platforms, search engines, banking services, and messengers. Websites with .ru and .рф domains, however, remained unaffected.
