On November 21, Correio da Manhã reported that a joint operation by the Judicial Police, the Navy, and the Air Force resulted in the seizure of up to eight tons of cocaine, the largest ever in Portugal. Ten Brazilians were arrested, and two fishing vessels were seized between Madeira and the Azores. The cocaine is believed to have been loaded on the coast of Brazil. The investigation was conducted in cooperation with authorities in Brazil, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
