Today, February 28, the Israeli and US militaries jointly launched airstrikes against Iran. This morning, US President Donald Trump made a statement about it. He said the primary objective is to protect Americans from the immediate threat posed by the Iranian regime. He offered the Iranian armed forces and police the opportunity to lay down their arms and receive full immunity. He also addressed the “great proud” people of Iran: “The hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don't leave your home. It's very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government.”

Around the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the goal of Operation Lion’s Roar is to end the threat posed by the ayatollah regime in Iran. “If anyone needed further proof of the bloodthirsty nature of the ayatollah regime, then... we all saw how this regime of terror in Tehran committed an unprecedented massacre of its own citizens,” he said. He also addressed the citizens of Iran: “Iranian people, in all its parts—Persians, Kurds, Azerbaijanis, Baloch, Arabs, and all other citizens of this wonderful country—this is your chance to create a new and free Iran. Take your destiny into your own hands. Raise your heads. Look to the skies. Our forces are there, the planes of the free world—all coming to your aid.”

Iran’s Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi also spoke at the same time, saying that “the aid promised by the US President... has finally arrived.” He also noted that “even with this aid... it is we, the people of Iran, who will bring this final battle to an end.” He called on the country’s military, law enforcement, and security forces to join in and help ensure a stable and secure transition, warning those who refused that they would “sink with Khamenei’s wrecked ship.”
