A 6 de dezembro, a publicação «SÁBADO», com base em informações da agência noticiosa “Lusa”, informou que a Polícia Judiciária prendeu 7 pessoas e apresentou acusações contra outras 45 durante a operação “Cash-a-lot” para eliminar uma organização criminosa transnacional envolvida em lavagem de dinheiro proveniente de transações comerciais e evasão fiscal.

A 6 de dezembro, o jornal «PÚBLICO» divulgou uma investigação sobre a empresa Importantaltura, que operava sob a marca IR Group. O nome é uma cópia da marca de uma conhecida empresa internacional do setor imobiliário. Os presumíveis burlões conseguiram até convencer as Finanças de Lagos a aceitar o registo fiscal dos edifícios urbanos. Durante anos, venderam a estrangeiros apartamentos, participações em projetos e acompanhamento para a obtenção de «vistos gold», mas as casas acabaram por não ser concluídas. A empresa faliu em junho deste ano e alguns credores suspeitam que o fundador, Hugo Paixão Pinto, esteja agora a tentar copiar o modelo no Dubai e no Brasil.

On December 6, SÁBADO, citing the Lusa news agency, reported that the Judicial Police arrested seven people and charged 45 more in Operation Cash-a-Lot, targeting a transnational criminal organization involved in money laundering and tax evasion.

On December 6, PÚBLICO published an investigation into Importantaltura, a company operating under the IR Group brand. The name is a carbon copy of a well-known international real estate brand. The alledged scammers even managed to convince the Lagos Tax Authority to accept the company’s tax registration for city buildings. For years, they sold apartments, shares in projects, and “golden visa” services for foreigners but the buildings were ultimately never completed. The company went bankrupt in June this year, and some creditors suspect that its founder, Hugo Paixão Pinto, is now trying to copy the model in Dubai and Brazil.
