On April 28, Portugal, Spain, and parts of France experienced the largest power outage in Europe in the past 20 years. It became clear that in such situations, communications, internet access, and ATMs fail within an hour. On May 2, The Guardian reported that the network operator Red Eléctrica ruled out a rare atmospheric event and found no evidence of a cyberattack—though the investigation continues.

That same day, the Portuguese with Tatyana YouTube channel published a story about how power plants were restarted after an emergency shutdown was triggered by two solar parks in southwestern Spain. It also explained how the integrated Iberian power grid allows countries to share capacity during shortages.

Juntamente convosco, queremos criar um conceito de alternativa atraente ao regime de Putin, que una, inspire e inclua os russos nos processos de auto-organização. Não estamos sozinhos neste caminho. A 30 de abril, o Príncipe Herdeiro Reza Pahlavi falou sobre o projeto de planos abrangentes, academicamente revistos por pares, para o futuro do Irão. “Precisamos de acender um novo fogo, um fogo de entusiasmo, um fogo de esperança”, disse Reza Pahlavi.

No dia 28 de abril, Portugal, Espanha e parte de França sofreram o maior corte de eletricidade na Europa nos últimos 20 anos. Verificou-se que, numa situação destas, as comunicações, a Internet e as caixas multibanco deixam de funcionar ao fim de uma hora. A 2 de maio, o The Guardian noticiou que o operador de rede Red Eléctrica rejeitou a teoria de um fenómeno atmosférico raro e afirmou que não tinham sido encontrados sinais de um ciberataque, mas que a investigação continuava.

No mesmo dia, o canal do YouTube “Português com Tatiana” publicou uma história sobre como as centrais eléctricas foram reiniciadas depois de as suas defesas terem sido acionadas pelo encerramento de emergência de dois parques solares no sudoeste de Espanha. E também como a rede ibérica unificada permite a troca de capacidade excedentária para quando não há suficiente.
