On August 7, the state of alert in mainland Portugal, introduced on the 3rd due to the high risk of forest fires, was extended until the end of the day August 13. Firefighters, medical and social services, the GNR, police and the military are on high alert. Volunteers serving as firefighters are allowed to skip work. Access to forest areas is prohibited, including transiting them by road; certain types of work are banned; and, of course, lighting fires and setting off fireworks is prohibited.

On August 6, Deutsche Welle reported that at least 15 Ukrainian citizens, out of about 100 being held in a basement at the Russia–Georgia border, had gone on hunger strike. They demand a meeting with the Ukrainian consul, medical assistance, and guarantees of passage to Ukraine. Some of them were imprisoned in the Russian Federation for opposing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and some have criminal records in Ukraine.
