On January 26, Expresso, citing reports from the Lusa agency, reported that Carla da Silva, a Venezuelan-Portuguese citizen, was released after six years in prison in Venezuela. She spent five of those six years in the El Helicoide torture prison. She points out that women prisoners are often forgotten, and that many are imprisoned as “collateral damage” due to the persecution of relatives or acquaintances. Citizens of Iran and Portugal are circulating a petition to the President of the Assembly of the Republic calling for support for the Iranian freedom movement through “concrete policies.” The authors demand public condemnation of Tehran, international action at the UN, sanctions against those responsible (without harming civilians), measures against the Iranian elite, and enhanced protection for Iranian emigrants in Portugal.

He fought against Putin’s regime until his last breath and was poisoned by Putin in prison on February 16, 2024. He also demanded an end to the war and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory. He left us a legacy of determination, and we strive to preserve the memory of his struggle for a better future for Russians.
On February 24 at 6:00 PM, we meet in the same place, in front of the Russian Embassy in Lisbon, on the fourth anniversary of the Russian army, on Putin’s orders—Putin, who usurped power in Russia—launching a full-scale war in Ukraine. The war is devastating the populations of both Ukraine and Russia; millions have lost their homes and have been forced to flee. Due to the shelling of infrastructure, people in Ukraine are freezing to death in their homes. Once again, we want to speak out against the Russian authorities’ decision to wage war in Ukraine, to declare that we do not recognize this government as legitimate or acting in the interests of the Russian people, and to demand the resignation of the authorities and the withdrawal of troops from Ukrainian territory, including Crimea.
