Cyberespionage and AI hacks. A creator of the "Liquidation" is in prison. Gorinov may be poisoned.

You’re watching news from the weekly rally in front of the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. Today is September 12th, 2:30 PM.

On September 10, Anthropic, the creator of the Claude AI models, released a report, "Detecting and countering misuse of AI: September 2026," detailing how bad actors used its models from December 2025 through August 2026. You've probably seen the story about how the company blocked research using its model that could have helped develop biological weapons.

But the report goes much further. It covers seven areas: cyberespionage and hacking, propaganda networks and fake media, surveillance systems targeting dissidents, fraud and fake dating app networks, abuses in biological research, weapons development and using other AI models to train their own.

The report also says the Russian cyberespionage group GTG-20006 attacked more than 20 organizations. Its most frequent targets were Ukrainian government officials, military personnel and diplomats. The attackers stole a proprietary machine-vision system development kit from a military drone manufacturer, then spent several days analyzing its architecture, the makeup of its production components and their suppliers. When antivirus software detected their trojan, AI agents rewrote it until the software no longer recognized it.

On September 8, SOTAvision reported from the Moscow City Court that former Moscow municipal deputy and now political prisoner Alexei Gorinov complained of nausea and dizziness during a video hearing from a penal colony in Rubtsovsk. The correspondent described them as signs of poisoning. Gorinov said the colony was not registering his requests for medical care and asked the court to help, but the court refused.
