On September 14, politicians Yulia Navalnaya and Maxim Katz, after a long history of conflict, issued their first joint recommendations for what Katz called "the most disgusting elections" to the State Duma. They are calling on people to come to the polls at noon on September 20 and vote for any party except United Russia on party lists, and for the strongest opponent of that party's candidate in single-member districts.

The Yabloko party, which was removed from the ballot, is urging voters to back its candidates in districts and spoil the party-list ballot.

Maxim Reznik, who came up with the 2024 "Noon Against Putin" campaign, backed "Noon for Peace," an action by Ilya Yashin's party. For his part, he proposed disrupting the spectacle being called elections through protest voting, spoiled ballots or a boycott.

On September 16, the newspaper Correio da Manhã reported that Portuguese prosecutors had opened an investigation into his death. He was found dead in a hotel in the Algarve, where he had traveled for work. His family requested a full autopsy with toxicology tests.
